St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish News
May 21, 2020
Dear St. Mary Star of the Sea Parishioners-
We are looking forward to having public Masses once again beginning with weekday Masses starting Tuesday, May 26. Weekday Masses will again be held at 12:10 PM at St. Mary Star of the Sea. The bishops in Minnesota and Fr. Bissonette of the Diocese of Duluth have given permission for a broader celebration of the Mass. Attendance is limited to one-third seating capacity of the church and you should wear a mask if you come. If you are 65 or older you should not attend. The same goes for all who have an underlying condition or are ill. No one is obliged to attend Mass, as the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass continues. Please see the full list of protocols and procedures and what to expect when you come to Mass. The 5 PM Saturday and 10:30 AM Sunday Mass at the Cathedral will continue to be live-streamed on Facebook.

Blessed Mother, keep us under the protection of your mantle and close to your Son Jesus! Intercede for our parishes and our world and obtain for us a cure for this virus!

MEMORIAL DAY, MONDAY MAY 25
There is no Mass on Monday, May 25 and the parish office is closed.
"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." Christians are no strangers to sacrifice. Jesus lays down his life for our redemption, martyrs remain faithful to the end, and every believer faces "deaths" in the spiritual life when love requires a re-ordering of preference and priority.
On Memorial Day, we honor those who laid down their lives for their nation and for the values we espouse - freedom, justice, and a better world for our children. In a day that often fills with barbeques and boat launches, remember to take some time in prayer! Intercede for those who have died and for the loved ones they left behind, and pray for peace on earth.
