FR. SETH GOGOLIN FOR THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
Thanks be to God! Tomorrow, we will have two new priests for our diocese! Fr Phil Mayer and Fr Jacob Tschida will be ordained Friday, June 13th at our Cathedral! Each of them begins their priestly assignments officially on July 1st, and both of them are assigned to a priest team overseeing a mission field of parishes. Fr Phil will be serving the mission field of Our Lady of the Lakes in Pequot Lakes, Nisswa, and Pine River along with Immaculate Heart in Cross Lake and St. Emily in Emily. Fr Jacob will be with us in our mission field of East Duluth. Join me in giving thanks to God for these men, and for their yes to Jesus in following Him to serve Him and to serve us as priests in the Diocese of Duluth.
Next weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, a solemnity in which we celebrate in a particular way the gift of the Eucharist given to us. How amazing it is that the source and summit of our faith is that God Himself gives us His own Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity to feed us and to be the means in which He is with us always until the end of time!
Corpus Christi is also a fitting time for Eucharistic Processions because we not only receive Jesus in the Eucharist, but we also worship Jesus in the Eucharist. As we have done the last several years, apart from last year couple of years where we had Eucharistic Processions in Duluth which were for the whole diocese, we will once again have a Eucharistic Procession for our East Duluth mission field.
We will begin the Eucharistic Procession after the 1:00pm Traditional Latin Mass at St. Benedict. You are all very welcome to attend that Mass and join in the procession from the church. If you go to another Mass that weekend, please plan to arrive at St. Benedict by 2:30pm so that we can efficiently form the procession and make our way on our path toward the Cathedral. You may also park at the Cathedral and there will be buses driving from the Cathedral to St. Benedict at 2:00pm. If you park at St. Benedict the buses will bring you back there after the procession finishes with benediction at the Cathedral.
I hope that you can make it to this beautiful opportunity to proclaim in public, as we walk from St. Benedict to the Cathedral, our love and devotion for Jesus Christ who is truly present Body, Body, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist.
I will not be able to join the procession this year as I will be away that weekend with my family as we celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. I am so grateful for the love my parents have given to me and my siblings, and the great example of married love that they have lived out for 50 years. I will be away from June 18-23.
While I am away, we will have a seminarian move in who will be assigned to our mission field from June 20 until about half way through August. Zavior Franck, who is from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crosby and is currently studying at the North American College in Rome will be with us this summer serving at Masses, participating in parish events, helping with our Steubenville mission trip as well as Camp Survive, and learning more about the life of being a parish priest. Please welcome Zavior to our mission field when you see him, and remember to continue praying for him, for all of our seminarians, and to pray for more men to answer the call the priesthood in our diocese.

Dear Cathedral Parish Community,
From June 29 through Labor Day, we'll be returning to the Latin Mass setting to help our community become more familiar with these beautiful melodies and prayers.
Why Latin? This ancient tradition connects us with the Universal Church, and the Latin chants invite us into a deep appreciation of the beauty, reverence, and mystery that are inherent in the Eucharistic celebration. By engaging with this ancient tradition, we have the chance to experience a sense of unity with Catholics around the world and throughout history.
Important clarifications: Using Latin is not a political statement or contradiction of Vatican II. The Council encouraged vernacular language but also recognized the value of Latin, encouraging the faithful to participate in certain liturgical parts using this sacred language. We're not advocating a return to pre-Vatican II liturgy or seeking to divide our community.
Our goal is to enrich our worship by incorporating elements that draw us deeper into the mystery of Mass. Throughout the year, we'll continue using various musical settings to develop our fluency in the full range of our Catholic liturgical tradition.
Before each mass we will take some time to teach these chants to the congregation so you feel confident during the service. We invite you to approach this experience with open hearts, embracing this opportunity to encounter the sacred in a meaningful way. Our aim remains the same: uniting our parish family in worship grounded in Christ's love and teachings.

SEEKING PART-TIME FAITH FORMATION ASSISTANT
The East Duluth Faith Formation team is seeking to hire a Part-Time Faith Formation Assistant. This position is open exclusively to female applicants due to its specific responsibilities, which include working closely with, mentoring, and chaperoning girls and young women within the Diocese of Duluth. The role requires flexible hours—typically 6 to 10 hours per week—including evenings and weekends. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be practicing Catholics in good standing. CALLED TO SERVICE IN OUR MISSION FIELD
Pope Leo XIV calls us to the mission of serving others; “may every Baptized Christian feel called to be a sign of hope in our world”. The Church's concern for the poor is reflected in our Catechism; “The Eucharist commits us to the poor. To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest, his brethren” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1397). Bishop Felton has asked us to bring the healing, hope, and joy that can only be found in Jesus to our Mission Field. We have many organizations and individuals in our parishes seeking volunteers to help serve people in need in our East Duluth Mission Field.

CHUM Food Shelf: Donations of non-perishable foods are needed for the CHUM food shelf. Whole grain cereals, pastas, peanut butter and canned goods are the items most needed. Please drop off your donations in the food baskets at the entrances of the Cathedral, St. Michael, St. Benedict and St. John's churches.
St. Vincent de Paul Society: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul visits our neighbors in need providing assistance in the form of prayer and paying some basic necessities for rent, utilities, auto repairs, etc.. EAST DULUTH FAITH FORMATION
This week we return to Ordinary time, but as I tell our faith formation students, this time in our liturgical year is anything but ordinary. This Sunday and next are designated as solemnities, special days that call our attention to the central mysteries of our faith. Today's feast of the Most Trinity invites us to consider what we believe about God, who has revealed himself to us in the Trinity—one God in three persons.
As three persons, God acts always as a God of love. He sent his only Son to save the world because he loves us. He gave us the Holy Spirit so that we may believe with His help that Jesus loves us and wants to give us eternal life.
As we catechize our young people, we strive to instill in them our deep faith in this central mystery. We believe in the Holy Trinity. One God who is three Persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Gospel today helps us understand the unity shared among all three persons of the Trinity. Although the idea of one God in three persons remains a mystery, we have the assurance that, as Jesus and the Father share all, Jesus and the Spirit share all.
The gift of the Holy Spirit is just one more sign of the Father's great love. We cannot know the future, but as disciples of God we know that whatever shape the future takes, we will not have to face it alone.

SCRIPTURE STUDY SUNDAYS
Sundays at 6 pm Deacon Dick Laumeyer leads a scripture study on the up-and-coming Sunday’s scripture readings. There is also a rosary and prayers for people’s needs. The meeting is outside by the Mary statue at St. Mary Star of the Sea. If weather is not conducive to meeting outside, the study will be held in the Social Hall. All are invited.

St. Mary Star of the Sea Rosary Schedule: The Rosary is prayed Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM and at 8:30 AM Sunday. The Scriptural Rosary is prayed each Wednesday evening at 6 pm though it is on hold during Lent.
Cathedral Rosary Schedule: The Rosary is prayed at 6:35 AM Monday through Friday, 10 AM on Saturday, and 4 PM Saturday. The Knights of Columbus lead the Rosary at 6:30 PM on the first Tuesday of each month during Adoration.
